Disaster mapping

Monitor crop drought with CDI

Read Crop Drought Index maps to see dryness stress across production areas.

The Combined Drought Index (CDI) viewer compiles drought-indicator maps used in European and Australian drought monitoring practice, adapted here for regional agricultural drought watch. On Platform tools the same viewer is labeled ECDI.

  1. Open Drought Monitoring

On Disaster Mapping, open Drought Monitoring. You can also start from Platform tools → Drought Tools → ECDI.

  2. Choose region, month, and year

Load the CDI layer for the period you need. Compare consecutive months to see whether dryness is spreading or easing.

  3. Cross-check with other tools

Pair CDI with Climate Info rainfall, SARAI / PAGASA AWS, and NDVI trends. A drought index is a signal, not a harvest forecast by itself.

The Drought Tools dialog also links a Google Earth Engine drought applet for interactive visualization outside the CDI list. Use it when you need to pan and inspect a period that is not in the saved map list.
